Supporting the birth community with information, education, services, and resources for positive birth experiences

Peer Review

BABA arose out of the culmination of several needs that we saw in the Bay Area. First, we recognized a need for a Standard of Practice for birth professionals in order to achieve consistency and a positive reputation. Second, we wanted to establish an environment that would foster cooperation among birth professionals.

Every member of BABA promises to adhere to our standards of practice. If, in the course of rendering care, you act in a way that is not reflective of our standards, and someone notifies us in writing, you will be asked to attend the next scheduled Peer Review meeting. At this meeting, you will given the opportunity to tell your side of the story. Your continued BABA membership is dependent on attending the next meeting and on getting the issue resolved. It is important to us that every member is acting in a way that is a reflection of our impeccability and integrity.

Although it's possible that your BABA membership could be revoked, our main intention is not to be punitive, but rather, to clarify what happened, so that we can actively resolve the situation in a way that feels beneficial to everyone involved.

If you would like to report a questionable incident, please email us a description of what happened, along with your name and phone number: review @ bayareabirth•org.
